Events

Each month we run FREE events to help make it easier to get on your bike and keep your wheels turning.

Our maintenance courses, guided rides and Rusty Riders sessions have limited spaces and are bookable via Eventbrite. Our community rides and Dr Bike sessions are open to all without the need to book – just turn up!

If you would like early notification of our events please sign up for our monthly newsletter. Our events are offered free of charge to participants thanks our generous community of volunteers and supporters and the hard work of our grant-finding fairy. If you like what we do, we welcome you to “pay it forward” with a suggested donation of £5 to the Hub on the day so that we can continue to offer courses and events.

Dr Bike Sessions

Each month we run FREE Dr Bike sessions so if your trusty steed needs a little TLC bring it in to the hub between 10.30-2.30 on the Saturdays below. Our professional mechanic will look it over, fix any smaller issues there and then and issue a ‘prescription’ for any bigger fixes that your bike needs.

Saturday Dr Bike Sessions in 2024 10.30-2.30
(Supported by the Big Bike Revival)

We’ll also be hosting some Wednesday Dr Bike Sessions in 2024, supported by the SGC Active Travel Fund.
Please note these sessions are a mix of drop in slots from 2.30-4.30 (during open hub), and bookable slots and will be advertised via our social media. The next date is Weds 30th October.

Maintenance Courses and Practice Sessions

Each month we run a FREE bike maintenance course in the evening of every third Tuesday. If you want to know how to look after your family’s bikes, join mechanic Stuart and our volunteers. Each month we alternate between a basic course and a more specialist topic at intermediate level e.g gears, brakes, bearings, wheel truing.

Places are limited and released at the start of each month so please book via Eventbrite. Young people age 12+ are welcome if accompanied by an adult.

Upcoming Basic Course Dates:
15/10/24, 21/01/25

Upcoming Intermediate Dates

Our monthly practice sessions are available to anyone who has attended our maintenance courses and wants to practice their skills on their own bikes (or one of ours!) with our professional mechanic and experienced volunteers alongside to help.

Practice sessions run on the fourth Tuesday of the month and are also bookable via Eventbrite.

Upcoming Practice Session Dates:

22/10/24, 26/11/24, 28/01/25

Maintenance Courses and Practice sessions between April 2024 and Oct 2025 are supported by a grant from South Gloucestershire Council Active Travel Fund.

Rusty Riders

NEW for 2024, we’re starting Rusty Riders skills and social sessions for learner and returner adult cyclists. Each month we’ll be offering FREE skills sessions with our instructor Karen and gentle local rides with our volunteers to help get you back on the saddle and feeling confident cycling in and around the Yate area. For more information see our Rusty Riders page.

Community Rides & Guided Rides

Throughout the year we run free community rides where anyone can come along and ride with us for fun and company. These tend to coincide with seasonal celebrations such as our Halloween and Christmas Lights Rides.

In 2024 we are also starting to run some guided rides, with smaller numbers bookable via Eventbrite. You can also join our Share your Ride Social Cycling group on Facebook to link up with other riders locally.

The best way to find out about our rides is to sign up for our newsletter.
